Psalms 72:20
This concludes the prayers of David son of Jesse.
Shalom sdr, my devotion today, Tue, Apr. 12, JESSE (Ps. 72:20). Jesse was the name of the father of The King David. Who was he? He was nothing. He had done nothing. He accomplished nothing. His life was barely had nothing good to talk about. He was nobody. He was just the father of David. If he was not the father of David, he wouldn’t be known. His name wouldn’t be recorded or mentuoned in the Bible.
1. Remembered.
He was recorded and remembered forever. On earth and also in heaven. His name is written in the Bible. It has been mentioned for thousand of years till today. So many other people’s names have been forgotten.
2. Revered.
He was revered by many people, although he was nobody. All that he had done in his life was humiliating his own son, the future second king of Israel, David.
3. Blessed.
He was blessed and given mercy by God. If God didn’t give him mercy, he would be doomed, just like the other non chosen people. That is actually the meaning of mercy, uncondional love to unworthy person. There are many Jesse in this life, including me. ASH.
