2 Kings 12:18
But Joash king of Judah took all the sacred objects dedicated by his predecessors—Jehoshaphat, Jehoram and Ahaziah, the kings of Judah—and the gifts he himself had dedicated and all the gold found in the treasuries of the temple of the Lord and of the royal palace, and he sent them to Hazael king of Aram, who then withdrew from Jerusalem.
Shalom sdr, my devotion today, Mon, Aug. 30, JOASH FAILED (II Kg. 12:18). Joash had the scripture already. He should ground everything based on the scripture. Unfortunately, he failed to maintain his life and his decisions in line with the scripture.
1. He took what was not his.
He took what was actually belong to his predecessors and the people. Furthermore, they were belong to God. They had been dedicated to God. He didn’t confer his action to God or the his advisors.
2. He gave them all freely.
He gave them all to the king of Aram, Hazael. Hazael didn’t pay anything. Everything was free. Joash didn’t receive anything as a token of appreciation, thanks or gratitude.
3. He sent them all.
Hazael didn’t need to bother to come, to take or to be occupied with all the taxes, papers and conditions. He just received everything at his place. Therefore, let’s just obey and follow the scripture. If we do it, we would have a good way of life. ASH.
