Mark 15:43
Joseph of Arimathea, a prominent member of the Council, who was himself waiting for the kingdom of God, went boldly to Pilate and asked for Jesus’ body.
Shalom sdr, my devotion today, Tue, Aug. 25, JOSEPH (Mk. 15:43). Why Joseph? Where were his 12 disciples? Where were the people whom had he healed? Where were everybody whom had experienced his miracle, help, food and kindness? Everybody has left him. Why had to be Joseph, an unknown person from Arimathea? I mean, he was not well known till the end of Jesus’ life. It is to teach us, that the cruelty was not only belong to the soldiers, Pilate, chief priests and so forth. But also belong to the followers and believers of Christ. We will wonder, if we are honest enough to confess the cruelty in our heart. Cruelty is not always talking about killing, murdering, taking someone’s life. It also talking about using, taking benefits and forcing. In this case, using and forcing Jesus to get the benefits. Many people want to follow Jesus to get the benefits, wealth, blessings. The main focus is only 1, to get. Once, it is no benefit, they will leave Jesus right away. Do we believe Jesus only for benefits? (ASH)
