2 Chronicles 24:18
They abandoned the temple of the Lord, the God of their ancestors, and worshiped Asherah poles and idols. Because of their guilt, God’s anger came on Judah and Jerusalem.

2 Chronicles 24:19
Although the Lord sent prophets to the people to bring them back to him, and though they testified against them, they would not listen.

Shalom sdr, my devotion today, Thu, Nov. 4, ABANDON (II Chron. 24:18-19). It was really an irony when not God whom left the people, but the people whom left God. Here, the people left God. How did they leave God?
1. Worshipping gods.
They quickly turned their hearts from God to the gods. How did they do that? They worshipped Asherah poles and other gods. How did they worship poles? Man made? Can you imagine how stupid what they did?

2. Ignoring his prophets.
God in his love tried to remind them by sending them many prophets. But they hardened their hearts. They didn’t want to listen. They refused the warnings.

3. Deleting his messenger.
Finally, God still gave them another opportinity to repent by sending the son of the priest, Zechariah. But they didn’t only ignore, but also delete him by stoning him to death mercilessly. It was really wrong. It hurt God’s heart. Let’s never abandon God. ASH.
