Furthermore, have I come to attack and destroy this place without word from the Lord? The Lord himself told me to march against this country and destroy it.’ ”

“Do not listen to Hezekiah. This is what the king of Assyria says: Make peace with me and come out to me. Then each of you will eat fruit from your own vine and fig tree and drink water from your own cistern,
Shalom sdr, my devotion today, Sun, Sept. 5, LISTEN (II Kg. 18:25, 31). God had created ears for many creatures. The ear is the longer sense to stay than the eyes. When the eyes couldn’t see, the ear usually could still hear. But listen is deeper than hear. Listen is not only talking about the ability to hear.
1. Listen requires perception.
When we listen, we think. We think whether this is true or not. Here, the people had to think which statement was true, the Hezekiah’s, the Assyrian king or the God?
2. Listen revives faith.
While we are listening, the faith and the heart are burned. When we have the faith, we have the strength, the energy to do things. We have the confidence. Although, perhaps, the things look impossible, but we have the strength to accomplish it.
3. Listen stimulates actions.
Listen doesn’t stop in agreeing or have the spirit. But it pushes hard enough to produce the faith, spirit and confidence into actions. Needed actions. Thoughtful actions. Truthful actions. So, listen to the word and show it into actions. ASH.
