1 Samuel 29:9
Achish answered, “I know that you have been as pleasing in my eyes as an angel of God; nevertheless, the Philistine commanders have said, ‘He must not go up with us into battle.’

Shalom sdr, my devotion today, Thu, July 1, LIVE LIKE AN ANGEL (I Sam. 29:9). It is possible to live like an angel in this world. Not because there are many priests or believers around. Not because there are no problems in life. Not because there are many rewards promised, so that a man would live well and fine. David was on the run. He was having many problems in his life. He experienced many unimaginable difficulties in his life. Yet, he could live so well in front of Achish, although he was:
a. An unbeliever.
Achish was not a believer. He didn’t have the same God as David. He believed in many gods. He undirectly acknowledge David deserved to be his god. He almost worshipped him too. Men would worship other great man greater than him. He acknowledged that David was greater than him.

b. A king.
Achish was a king. As a king, he had already at the highest position. He had nothing in mind to get a better position or reward by praising David like that. Many times, a man gives good compliments to other in order to receive something in turn.

c. An enemy.
Achish knew that David had slain ten of thousands Phillistines. Yet, he had no reason and ground to hate David. He witnessed by himself that David was a good man. So, let’s ask God to help us to be able to live as an angel in the eyes of the unbelievers. ASH.
