Ezra 2:62
These searched for their family records, but they could not find them and so were excluded from the priesthood as unclean.
Shalom sdr, my devotion today, Fri, Nov. 18, LOW STATUS (Ezr. 2:43, 61-62). There were many kinds of low status at that time. Low status doesn’t mean low caste. That was not always connected with sin. Perhaps, we consider that the gatekeepers were the lowest status, but there were other low status.
1. Temple servants.
There were people whom were happy to be called as the temple servants. They were called and ordained as temple servants. They were not priests. They were the heads. They just were simply the servants of the servants.
2. Unclean.
Those whom got many diseases were considered unclean. They must go from their families to join to the diseased and despised community.
3. Married with the gentile.
Those whom married with the gentile also would considered as low people. They were not pure. They were treated differently. They couldn’t participate in many community activities. But, God loved them all. On earth, we have different status. But in heaven, we all would be the same. ASH.
