Genesis 23:19
Afterward Abraham buried his wife Sarah in the cave in the field of Machpelah near Mamre (which is at Hebron) in the land of Canaan.

Shalom sdr, my devotion today, Sun, Nov. 1, MACHPELAH (Gen. 23:19). Machpelah was the name of a field near Mamre. It was located at Hebron. It was bought by Abraham as the burial site. Sarah was buried there first. Then Abraham himself. Then Jacob. It was bought from The Hittite, Ephron son of Zohar. It had a cave and trees around it. The land belonged to Abraham. It was bought elegantly, not stolen or robbed.
a. It was bought in front of all the people.
It was not hidden. It was publicly bought. So, other people and their descendants wiuld not think, that it was stolen or robbed. So they would not took it back.

b. It was bought by bowing down.
Abraham bowed down in front of the people to buy the land. He didn’t only pay with silver, but also with his reverence.

c. It was bought in cash.
No installment. No debt. No bargain. It was paid 400 shekels of silver.

Therefore, when we buy things from other people, we can buy it elegantly. (ASH).
