Psalms 15:4
who despises a vile person but honors those who fear the LORD; who keeps an oath even when it hurts, and does not change their mind.
Shalom sdr, my devotion today, Mon, Feb. 13, OATH (Ps. 15:4). Oath is a promise to God. It’s ok to make a promise to God. It’s not a sin to make 1 or more promises to God. It’s normal to do that.
1. To remember yourself.
If man dares to make a promise, he has to remember his promise by himself. He can’t count on someone else to remember his promise and to remind him about that. He can’t blame someone else, if he makes the promise. Nobody has the right to force others to make a promise.
2. To calculate the consequence.
If a man makes a promise, he has to calculate the cost. He has to be able to meet the cost. He supposes not to make greater promise, if he can’t meet the cost. Moreover, he shouldn’t make a promise, of he still can’t finish his previous one.
3. To keep the promise.
If a man makes a promise, then, God would demand him to keep it. Well, God is forgiving. But he doesn’t like to be played. God wants men to be responsible and careful when he makes the promise. So, do you have a promise to God? ASH.
