1 Kings 7:1
It took Solomon thirteen years, however, to complete the construction of his palace.

1 Kings 7:48
Solomon also made all the furnishings that were in the Lord’s temple: the golden altar; the golden table on which was the bread of the Presence;

Shalom sdr, my devotion today, Tue, August 3, ONGOING (I Kg. 7:1, 48). It looked like Solomon took so much longer for him to finish his own palace. He needed 7 years to build the temple. But it took 13 years for him to finish his palace. Almost doubled the time to build the temple. But, actually he still did many things to complete the furnishings.
1. After 7 years.
It had been said, that the temple had been finished after 7 years. Then, he started to build his palace. But, he still did many things for the temple. His mind was still occupied with the temple articles.

2. After 13 years.
After he finished building his palace for 13 years (v 1), he still working on doing many things for the temple. Building his palace looked so much longer, but it was depicted so much faster. Notice, he put the information that he needed 13 years to finish the palace in verse 1! Compare to finishing the temple, at the end of ch. 6 and almost at the end of this ch, ch 7.

3. After 20 years.
And after 7+13 years building both the buildings, Solomon still doing things to even complete more the temple. He was never stop to complete and make it more and more beautiful. So is the same with us. We should think and build the house of God on and on. It is an ongoing process. It is never ended. The house of God needs us to build all the time. ASH.
