1 Chronicles 19:19
When the vassals of Hadadezer saw that they had been routed by Israel, they made peace with David and became subject to him. So the Arameans were not willing to help the Ammonites anymore.

Shalom sdr, my devotion today, Fri, Sept. 30, PEACE (I Chron. 19:19). Peace is easy to be said, but not easy to be done, to be given, to be achieved. Sometimes, we are not in the position to ask for peace, but to give peace. Here, we can see that David wanted to give peace with his enemy.
1. No requirements.
David didn’t give any requirements to give peace to his enemy, no stipulations, no notes, no askings, no tests, nothing. David directly gave the peace to the Ammonites king, Hadadezer.

2. No threats.
He didn’t say anything if Hadadezer broke the treaty. He didn’t say that if he broke the commitment, David would punish him and even his households, children and descendants.

3. No payments.
He didn’t ask or receive anything to give peace to his enemy at that time and in the later time. David never asked and said anything to remind people for his kindness. Can we do the same? Not only asking peace but giving peace. ASH.
