1 Kings 3:9
So give your servant a discerning heart to govern your people and to distinguish between right and wrong. For who is able to govern this great people of yours?”
1 Kings 3:10
The Lord was pleased that Solomon had asked for this.
Shalom sdr, my devotion today, Fri, July 30, PLEASED (I Kg. 3:9-10). How happy to see God happy? God is easily to be made happy. Why? Because, God loves us. God has loved us, before we do anything. Moreover, if we do things make him happy. He will be more than happy. He is pleased. In this case, we can see that God was happy with Solomon. Why?
1. Solomon prayed.
Prayer makes God happy. Prayer is a communication with God. When we talk to him, he is happy. Just like our children speaking with us, the parents, we are happy.
2. Solomon asked wisdom.
Solomon didn’t ask health, wealth, strength, power, fame or else. He didn’t ask wives, many children. He didn’t ask more friends, higher position. He didn’t ask security or safety.
3. Solomon wanted to please God.
He asked 1 thing only, wisdom. Wisdom to govern the nation. Wisdom to know right or wrong. Wisdom to be a good king. Wisdom to please God. Wisdom to return everything for the glory of God. Shall we pray? Shall we ask things pleasing God? ASH.
