1 Kings 2:25
So King Solomon gave orders to Benaiah son of Jehoiada, and he struck down Adonijah and he died.
Shalom sdr, my devotion today, Thu, July 29, POOR ADONIJAH (I Kg. 2:25). Adonijah was the son of the king David. He was the brother of Absalom and Solomon. He
1. He made himself deserved to be a king.
He asked Joab and Abiathar to support him to make him king. He prepared and executed his plan without shame. He didn’t ask David’s consent and agrremeent. He did successful to be a temporary king, although only a while. He should confer his intention first.
2. He made himself deserved to get David’s accompany.
He asked Bathsyeba to speak to Solomon to give Abishag to be his wife. Why did he not ask politely first? Why did he directly ask Bathsyeba? He could ask many people. He could ask Solomon directly politely. He made his decision already before asking anybody.
3. He made himself deserved to make second mistake.
He was spared for the 1st mistake, making himself king, by holding the ark. He made 2nd mistake by making wrong wish. May we always humble and be very careful in life. ASH.
