1 Corinthians 2:4
My message and my preaching were not with wise and persuasive words, but with a demonstration of the Spirit’s power.

Shalom sdr, my devotion today, Sept. 17, POWER (I Cor. 2:4). How much do we long for power nowadays? But man needs the power many times for negative purposes. No wonder, they have no power. Paul also needed the power. He needed the power not for negative purposes. He needed the power not for his own benefit. He needed the power not to overpower other people. He needed the power to:
a. Deny self.
To subdue his ego under the word. He wanted to always obey the will of God for himself. He didn’t only want to talk, but also to actualize it personally.

b. Deploy self.
He didn’t want to talk to ask other people to go and to do things. He himself also went into the ministry and even to far places.

c. Deplete self.
He needed always the strength of God to work hard and even harder than what he had done before when he chased the unbelievers. He needed the power of God to be faithful in the heavy ministry, facing many oppositions.

So, how much do we long for the power of God? (ASH)
