Deuteronomy 27:13
And these tribes shall stand on Mount Ebal to pronounce curses: Reuben, Gad, Asher, Zebulun, Dan and Naphtali.
Shalom sdr, my devotion today, Wed, Apr. 7, PRONOUNCE (Deut. 27:13). I think this is one of the reasons that The Israelites was so strong in religion and religious life. They were always reminded many times loudly, publicly and clearly. Therefore, it will help them not to break the rules of God. We seldom hear the proclamation and pronounciation like this publicly, even in the church. The sermon about curse is rare. The benefit of reciting these laws:
a. The memory will not fading.
They will always remember. The memory is fresh. They will always remember word by word.
b. The principle will not changing.
They will not change, reduce or transform the law into new different law. The law would be the same to generations. The law would be always fixed and framed.
c. The understanding will not breaking.
It is not difficult to teach their children. Since they were young, they have heard these laws. They didn’t need too much energy to explain to their children. The community would be well informed by these laws. So, it would help build the spirit and sensitivity toward the laws. Shall we say it in our family first? ASH.
