Leviticus 11:6
The rabbit, though it chews the cud, does not have a divided hoof; it is unclean for you.

Leviticus 11:7
And the pig, though it has a divided hoof, does not chew the cud; it is unclean for you.

Shalom sdr, my devotion today, Mon, Jan. 18, RABBIT … PIG (Lev. 11:6-7). Many times we heard that pig is unallowed to be eaten. We know that pork has many worms. But what about rabbit? Does rabbit has many worms too? Or may cause many diseases? Many times, we give general reasons to that questions. We say that those animals have many worms, can cause many diseases, not good to be eaten, requires long time to be cooked, etc. But what is the real reason, why those animals are unallowed to be eaten?
a. To show that unaccustomed identity.
They are the people of God. They are suppose to live different from the other people.
Health is not the real reason behind the prohibition. Taste is not also the real reason for the forbid. The real reason is the difference between the people of God and not.

b. To show the unconditional obedience.
The other reason for the prohibition is the obedience. When God says something, don’t argue. Don’t bargain. Don’t postpone. Don’t change. Don’t reduce.

c. To show the unafraid spirit to learn the new thing.
They have to learn to cook the new food. They can try the new kind of delicacies. They have to develop. Not stagnant. So, let’s improvise and be different. ASH.
