Genesis 26:22
He moved on from there and dug another well, and no one quarreled over it. He named it Rehoboth, saying, “Now the Lord has given us room and we will flourish in the land.”
Shalom sdr, my devotion today, Wed, Nov. 4, REHOBOTH (Gen. 26:22). Almost everything is named by The Israelites. They named places, animals, trees, fruits and so forth. In this case, they named the wells. They didn’t play with names. Why did they do that? Unlike other people, they named things for history, recording and remembrance. It helps and makes them remember important things:
a. That they are not afraid to go to new places.
As long as God came and went with them, they didn’t afraid to go and open new places.
b. That they are not angry people.
They didn’t angry, even when they were attacked by the people around them for the well they have found. They simply went to other place to dug other well. They were not irritated, burning coals, peevish.
c. That they are not alone.
God was always with them. God never forsaked them. God gave them room and made them successful. Other people could see that the hand of God was with them.
Let’s remember for the room that God has provided for us. Rehoboth. ASH.
