2 Kings 20:2
Hezekiah turned his face to the wall and prayed to the Lord,

2 Kings 20:19
“The word of the Lord you have spoken is good,” Hezekiah replied. For he thought, “Will there not be peace and security in my lifetime?”

Shalom sdr, my devotion today, Tue, Sept. 7, SELFISH (II Kg. 20:2, 19). Selfish is the struggle of every man. It is also the struggle of everyday. Everyday we are faced with things which we have to choose, whether we overcome it with selfishness or generosity, ego or other’s benefit. King Hezekiah was a selfish man.
1. He asked healing.
When he was sick and almost dead, he prayed to God to ask God to heal him. He didn’t want to die. He wanted to be healed. God healed him and gave him 15 years more.

2. He asked a sign.
He asked a difficult sign to confirm his healing. To confirm God’s promise. To confirm what Isaiah said was true.

3. He thought for himself.
When prophet Isaiah delivered the punishment that his descendant would experience, he didn’t care, as long as that in his lifetime, there was peace. So, let’s not be selfish. ASH.
