2 Chronicles 36:6
Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon attacked him and bound him with bronze shackles to take him to Babylon.
Shalom sdr, my devotion today, Tue, Nov. 16, SHACKLE (II Chron. 36:6). King Jehoiakim was captivated by King Nebuchadnezar. He was evil and arrogant. God sent Nebuchadnezar to caught him. He put bronze shackles on him. Whatever the shackles were made of, they still were shackles.
1. Heavy.
Shackles were heavy. They were not made from rubber or plastic. They were usually made from steel or bronze. Thus, not only they were strong, but also heavy.
2. Hurting.
Shackles were small and hard. Many times, they cut, hurt the skins and bones of the people shackled. They could cause infections and diseases too.
3. Humiliating.
But the most result that shackled made were shame. The people shackled were shameful. The king was humiliated and carried to Babylon like a dog. Usually, animals were shackled. This time, it was the king. May, we never been shackled by anything. ASH.
