1 Samuel 16:13
So Samuel took the horn of oil and anointed him in the presence of his brothers, and from that day on the Spirit of the Lord came powerfully upon David. Samuel then went to Ramah.
1 Samuel 16:19
Then Saul sent messengers to Jesse and said, “Send me your son David, who is with the sheep.”
Shalom sdr, my devotion today, Fri, June 18, SHEPHERD (I Sam. 16:13, 19). What a humble man we can see in the life of David. David was the youngest son of Jesse. He was number 8. He was not nominated. But God chose him and had anointed him to be the king of Israel. Samuel had anointed him. But he didn’t change. He was still humble.
a. He didn’t tell anybody.
He didn’t announce to everybody that he had been anointed to be king.
b. He didn’t act arrogantly to the family.
He didn’t become rebellious to his parents and brothers. He didn’t ask to be specialized in everything. He didn’t ask to be worshipped or served.
c. He didn’t leave his job.
He still tending the sheep at the field. He still played the lyre. He still sang the song. He was still the same shepherd just like he was. Let’s learn from his humility. ASH.
