1 Samuel 8:3
But his sons did not follow his ways. They turned aside after dishonest gain and accepted bribes and perverted justice.

Shalom sdr, my devotion today, Thu, June 10, SONS (I Sam. 8:3). Raising sons are not a simple task. It is not easy. Why? Because, we are not raising only their physical, but also their emotional, mental and spiritual. Eli had failed. Samuel had failed too. Eli was a priest. Samuel was a prophet. Both of them failed to raise their sons to follow the path of God. They had raised their sons:
a. Physically.
The sons might have fine posture and height. They might be healthy. They might be strong. But it takes more than only healthy strong physical to be leaders.

b. Educationally.
They might have been taught what it was required to know as priests and leaders. They had been equipped with enough knowledge, terms and things.

c. Positionally.
The sons might continue the job as priests and leaders. They had taught the sons how to do the jobs done. They had shown the rules and roles to do the jobs done. But it takes more than only knowing the rules and roles to be leaders.

But, they failed to teach the sons to have good mentality and spirituality. The sons didn’t want to protect their authority and spirituality well. They misused their position to sin before God. So that, let’s ask God strength and wisdom to teach and raise our children well. ASH.
