Acts 14:19
Then some Jews came from Antioch and Iconium and won the crowd over. They stoned Paul and dragged him outside the city, thinking he was dead.
Shalom sdr, my devotion today, Wed, Sept. 9, STONED (Acts 14:19). Being God’s servant, sometimes, is a dangerous occupation. It can cost us life. Although the servant was anointed by God personally. In this case, Paul was called, anointed and sent by God personally. Although the servant could perform miraculous thing. In this case, Paul healed the lame (v 10). Although the servant has spoken nicely to them. In this case, Paul called them as friends (v 15). Although the servant has brought them good news. In this case, Paul told them the gospel (v 15). What was the problem? What went wrong? Did God leave them? Did God lose his power to protect them? No. We can’t imagine that God has a great plan behind these things. God wants to use these happenings to carry on his will. Who knows that by this stoning God shows his power? No one ever guess that God will use this thing to spread the good news even more spectacular. So, don’t limit God by our limited mind. Just believe that evrything will be beautiful in its time. (ASH)
