2 Chronicles 12:1
After Rehoboam’s position as king was established and he had become strong, he and all Israel with him abandoned the law of the Lord.
2 Chronicles 12:2
Because they had been unfaithful to the Lord, Shishak king of Egypt attacked Jerusalem in the fifth year of King Rehoboam.
Shalom sdr, my devotion today, Sat, Oct. 23, STRONG (II Chron. 12:1-2). Strength is good. But strength may be bad too. When a person feel strong, then he may be tempted. What is the temptation of the strong?
a. To be arrogant.
Strength makes man arrogant. Haughty. Forget that he could be strong, because he was helped, blessed, strengthened, supported. He was nothing, if God didn’t help him. Forget everything.
b. To stop achieving.
A strong man would be tempted to stop doing nothing. He would stop to push himself. He would have no more plan to be better. He felt enough.
c. To abandon God.
He would be tempted to leave the source of his strength, God. He would feel that he didn’t need God anymore, the one whom had made him strong. That was the worst mistake of a man. Therefore, always depend on God. ASH.
