James 3:8
But no human being can tame the tongue. It is a restless evil, full of deadly poison.
Shalom sdr, my devotion today, Thu, Oct. 8, TAME (James 3:8). Human being can tame many things. Human can tame all kinds of animals. Human being also can tame ships, vehicles. He can control ships, vehicles, supersonic planes, etc. But he can’t small little tiny bitty tongue. Tongue is wild, evil and poisonous. We can’t learn to control tongues. We can’t try and do things to steer tongues. It is out of our hands. Are we really hopeless? What we can do to control tongues.
a. We ask God help.
If we want to control tongue, we have to ask God’s help. We need his power to control our tongues.
b. We control our heart.
If we want to control.the tongue, we have to be clean inside. We ask God’s mercy to clean our heart from grudge, evil, dishonesty, malice, envy and so on.
c. We change our mind.
Our friends are our friends. They are not enemies. They are threats. They are not competitors. Let’s be together improving our own self. We don’t want to hurt our friends. We want to love them and support them.
So, let’s use our tongues for the glory of God and the good of other people. (ASH)
