1 Kings 5:5
I intend, therefore, to build a temple for the Name of the Lord my God, as the Lord told my father David, when he said, ‘Your son whom I will put on the throne in your place will build the temple for my Name.’

Shalom sdr, my devotion today, Sun, August 1, TEMPLE (I Kg. 5:5). Building a temple is a priviledge of a lifetime. Not everybody can build a temple in his whole lifetime. Not even to develop a temple. It’s a great honor then to build a temple. Solomon had that priviledge. He got the honor to build the temple for God
1. As the son of peace.
No wars in the Solomon reign. He had a peaceful life and relationship to everybody. Therefore, as the son and symbol of peace, he built a temple for God. Temple is the symbol for peace. Temple is the place of and for peace. Temple should be built in and for peace. Everyone should feel peace in the temple.

2. As the son of David.
He was chosen and given the mandate to build the temple. The mandate was not given to everybody. Not to every king. Not to every generation.

3. As the son of God.
He as the believer of course had the longing to build a house for God. He wanted to build the best house for God. He knew that God deserved the best. We can also build a house for God. If not the new one, let’s develop what we have now. ASH.
