1 Chronicles 23:3
The Levites thirty years old or more were counted, and the total number of men was thirty-eight thousand.
1 Chronicles 23:4
David said, “Of these, twenty-four thousand are to be in charge of the work of the temple of the Lord and six thousand are to be officials and judges.
1 Chronicles 23:5
Four thousand are to be gatekeepers and four thousand are to praise the Lord with the musical instruments I have provided for that purpose.”
Shalom sdr, my devotion today, Tue, Oct. 5, THE LEVITES ( Chron. 23:3-5). The service in the temple was really focused, specialized and separated. No random or anybody can serve in the temple. Not everyone can come that close to the temple.
1. The minister had to be The Levites.
Among the 12 tribes, God chose only 1 tribe to serve him specifically in the temple. Not the biggest tribe. Not the oldest tribe. Not the strongest tribe.
2. The minister had to be 30 years old.
All the minister in the temple had to be a young man of 30 years old. No younger age than that. They had considered mature and strong. Healthy and ready to do the work.
3. The minister had to focus on the job.
24k for service in the temple. 6k for officials and judges. 4k for gatekeepers and 4k for singers and musicians. No job replacement. They had to focus on the chosen job forever. How God really specialized and sacralized the ministry in the temple, shouldn’t we do the same?
