Joshua 18:7
The Levites, however, do not get a portion among you, because the priestly service of the Lord is their inheritance. And Gad, Reuben and the half-tribe of Manasseh have already received their inheritance on the east side of the Jordan. Moses the servant of the Lord gave it to them.”

Shalom sdr, my devotion today, Sun, May 2, THE LEVITES (Jos. 18:7). Why Joshua had to say the repeated thing many times? Why Joshua had to proclaim and announce it again and again? The Levites for sure didn’t get the inheritance. Everybody and The Levites themselves already knew well about this.
a. It showed clarity.
It was squeaky clear that The Levites got no inheritance. It freed them from greed. It freed them from comparison. It freed them from double focus. They had to focus on the service in the house of God.

b. It showed consistency.
It was needed to show everybody undisturbed and unchanged decision. The decision was made and applied since in the time of Moses. They just continued it.

c. It showed chastity.
They have to guard their life free from the covetousness to have inheritance. If they dared to have it secretly, they didn’t worthy before God. The people also would know and would report it to Joshua. That would cause a serious consequence. So, let’s focus on the occupation and possession that God has given to each of us. ASH.
