Genesis 30:32
Let me go through all your flocks today and remove from them every speckled or spotted sheep, every dark-colored lamb and every spotted or speckled goat. They will be my wages.
Shalom sdr, my devotion today, Sun, Nov. 8, TRICKY (Gen. 30:32). Liars people are always smart. If they aren’t smart, they can’t fool other people. Jacob was very smart too. Therefore, he could lie to his brothers, fathers and then to Laban. How on earth, he got the idea about how to make animals bred more by putting white poplar or tree skins? Moreover, his lie was not realized by Laban and his men for a long time. If we continue reading, we could read how smart Jacob was. He even tried to trick God by his brilliant mind. How did he trick God?
a. By marriaging many women and having many children.
He thought that by doing that he could change the plan of God. He could postpone the calling of God? Why? Because, he had such a big family. Big family not easily move to different places. But for God, nothing is impossible. Later, all of them had to move to Egypt.
b. By doing many sins.
Not only lying, but also marriaging many women, even slept with them without marriage. He slept with the servantnof his wives without marriage.
c. By ignoring the problems in the family.
He didn’t take care the problem between his wives well. By having such many problems in his life, he thought, God would change his mind to use him. No. God sticked with his plan and will. He couldn’t be tricked. He at the end later, would change the heart of Jacob. So, perhaps, we may trick people, but we can’t trick God. ASH.
