Leviticus 12:5
If she gives birth to a daughter, for two weeks the woman will be unclean, as during her period. Then she must wait sixty-six days to be purified from her bleeding.
Shalom sdr, my devotion today, Tue, Jan. 19, UNCLEAN (Lev. 12:5). Being a woman really is a great inspiration to the world.
a. She has to be pregnant.
She has to suffer for 9 months to carry the baby. She has to experience many difficulties in her body changes. We can not describe them all in words.
b. She has to give birth.
Then, she has to deliver the baby. This is the critical time. She can die in the delivery time, especially in the ancient time like that. No caesar method. No medicines to help her overcome the pain.
c. She has to be unclean.
She didn’t do any sin. But she has to be considered as unclean. A low and shameful status in the eyes of the people.
d. She has to rest for 14 days + 66 days.
This gives time for her to be recovered and restored from the delivery pains and the energy that she had given to the child. Those are little facts that a mother had to experience. How great a mother is. Let’s respect and honor our parents. ASH.
