  • Deuteronomy 34:8
The Israelites grieved for Moses in the plains of Moab thirty days, until the time of weeping and mourning was over.

Shalom sdr, my devotion today, Wed, Apr. 14, WEEPING (Deut. 34:8). We know today, that The Israelites had the similar culture as the other nations, especially the culture of weeping. In Indonesia, we also know the culture of weeping or grief in the seventh day, 30th day and so forth. The Israelites also had this kind of culture. I don’t know whether this culture still exist today. But for sure, it was applied at that time. What can we learn:
a. Weeping is fine.
God created us with feeling, emotion. We can feel sad, when we lose our loved ones. So, it is not a sin to weep.

b. Weeping is good.
Sometimes, weeping is good to balance our feeling. When we weep, the sadness comes out. It balances the emotion. It drains the downhearted. It makes everything comes back to zero.

c. Weeping is normal.
It is normal to cry. It is normal to show empathy. It is normal to show care and attention. Joshua was also didn’t stop The Israelites from weeping. So, it’s ok to weep. But not weeping all the time, years or even in a very long time. So, if we need to weep, we can weep. But, we have also the ability to stop, to do something else. ASH.
