Genesis 12:19
Why did you say, ‘She is my sister,’ so that I took her to be my wife? Now then, here is your wife. Take her and go!”
Shalom sdr, my devotion today, Wed, Oct. 21, WIFE (Gen. 12:19). Wife is sacred. Once a woman becomes wife, she belongs to the husband. It can not be changed, separated and cut. We can see the story here, many people try to cut the sacred union between husband and wife. Who were they? Did they succeeded?
a. His husband.
Abraham said that his wife was his sister. The husband loved his life more than his wife. He was willing to lie for saving his life. He was willing to lose wife for his well being. He was willing to trade the wife with the cattle.
b. The great ruler.
Pharaoh took his wife to be his wife. The greatest ruler at the time couldn’t refuse this old lady. She was almost 80 at the time.
c. Sarah.
She herself was willing to be called Abr sister and be the new wife of Pharaoh.
d. Human rules.
Human rules were and are used to cut the sacred union.
Did they all succeeded? Did God allow it to pass by? No. God intervened and stopped Pharaoh to defile the sacredity of Sarah. Pharaoh had no choice. He had to return Sarah. Therefore, let’s honor the sacred union between husband and wife (ASH)
