2 Chronicles 11:21
Rehoboam loved Maakah daughter of Absalom more than any of his other wives and concubines. In all, he had eighteen wives and sixty concubines, twenty-eight sons and sixty daughters.
Shalom sdr, my devotion today, Fri, Oct. 22, WIVES (II Chron. 11:21). Rehoboam was the son of Solomon. He was the only son of Solomon. The Bible doesn’t mention any other Solomon’s names. He was not very well known by many people. But we can see he tried to copy his father
a. He had 18 wives.
His father had 700 wives. He was number 2 in the number of wives a person married with in The Bible. Usually only 4, 5 and not so many. Abraham 3. Jacob 4. David 7.
b. He had 60 concubines.
His father had 300 concubines. That was also a record in the history of The Israelites. Usually, other people had not too many concubines. Even, the gentiles didn’t have so many concubines. That was not God’s command for him to do so.
c. He had 1 favorite wife.
Solomon loved all his wives. He had no favorite wife. All his wives were his and made him went astray. Rehoboam also had favorite wive, but he had only 1, Maacah. Unfortunately, he didn’t follow or imitate the good things of Solomon, in wisdom, in building and taking care of the temple, etc. Yes, following bad things are much easier and faster than following the good ones. ASH.
